WHO KILLED DELE GIWA

It all happened in the 19th of october 1986, when he recieved a deadly mail . The assasination occured two days after he had been interviewed by the state security service (sss) officials. In all off the record interviewed with airport journalist, Lt. col. A.K Togun , the deputy director of SSS had claimed that on 9 october Dele organised a media parly for media executives. The day giwa recieved the package, he was with Kayode Soyinka . The package which he recieved exploided, mortally wounded Giwa and temporarily deafening Soyinka who excused himself to the rest room shortly before Giwa was supposed to have attempted opening the package. Giwa was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died.

iwa News Watch Gloria Okon linked . In 1985, following a request by the supreme millitary council under Rafinda , Babakinda was fguilty of forgery and his activities inimical to national security. This issue arose as a result of Babakinda and his in law who was intrested in an arms manufacturing venture in kaduna called black gold.
  However, no other witness has collaborated this claim, Giwa's 17 years old son , Billy who had delivered the package to Giwa has never coroborrated this claim . Soyinka testimony about the event prior to the bombing have also been brought into questions, there have been accusation made to the effect that he might have been the same person that detomated the bomb by remote control has he was not injured in the exploison.
 In 2001, general Ibrahim Babakinda refused to testify before a national human right commissioned about the Giwa murder. IBB went to court and obtained an order restraining the commission from summoning them to appear before it .
 In 2008, the Goverment of Nigeria named a street in the new federal capital Abuja after dele as they did with other activist such as Fela Anikulapo kuti.
